Before joining Kindred, Nico (they/them, he/him) worked with organizations to advance equity, inclusion, and diversity initiatives and served as a programs director with Break Away, where they were part of a small team that developed social justice training curriculum for short-term service programs at colleges and universities. At Kindred, Nico supports Kindred’s programs, operations, and communications work. Nico grew up in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and graduated with a degree in political science from James Madison University. They are a queer, multiracial Filipino and Puerto Rican person raised by a single mother in one of the highest-income areas in the U.S. Informed by their experiences that follow these identities, Nico’s commitment to anti-racism and collective liberation is guided by a belief that community must be a priority in our values and life choices.
