Samantha (she/her) is chief financial and operations officer at Cesar Chavez Schools. Prior to this role, Samantha served for 16 years at the International Youth Foundation (IYF) where she lead and supported the work of teams focused on the critical goal of helping disadvantaged young people around the world reach their potential. As CFO, she strived to support the organization’s work through efficient and supportive operational structures that would enable the organization to meet its critical mission objectives. Samantha’s work since graduate school has focused on the effective operations of nonprofit organizations. Before going to IYF, she worked as a senior associate at La Piana Consulting, a firm specializing in strategic restructuring for nonprofit organizations and served as the Associate Director of the Nonprofit and Public Management Program and the Director of MBA Student Services at the Haas School of Business, where she worked with MBA students interested in nonprofit management careers. Samantha grew up in Costa Rica and worked extensively in Latin America prior to graduate school. She received her bachelor’s degree at Georgetown University and her MBA at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
