Dana Mitchell

Senior Partnership Strategist

Dana Mitchell (she/her/hers) has spent her career working in schools to build caregiver and educator capacity, so that students and their families have more equitable opportunities to succeed in life.

Prior to joining Kindred, Dana leveraged her role as a culture- and instruction-focused school leader, to disrupt systems of privilege and disadvantage. Her contributions toward educational equity include student-facing preventative / restorative practices, coaching leaders and teachers, partnering with families, and facilitating antiracist, anti-bias spaces. She’ll often note that her 4 values—family, relationships, integrity, and excellence—are at the core of her practice. Dana believes that her human-first, get in the weeds + do the work approach is what has allowed her to sustain healthy relationships with staff, create inclusive learning spaces, and strengthen school communities, especially those in need of love and repair because of historic marginalization.

Dana earned her B.S., Theatre from Frostburg State University (Frostburg, Maryland) and her M. Ed., K-12 Education from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Dana is a DC Native who loves spending time with her family, cooking, and analyzing movies.
