“The self cannot be self without other selves… All life is interrelated. [We] are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.”

                       – Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Welcome to our newest partner schools!

This 2021-2022 school year, we are excited to share that we are partnering with Latin American Montessori Bilingual, School Within School, Cardozo Education Campus, and Alexandria City Public Schools. We are honored that each community is partnering with Kindred in collaborating towards the creation of an anti-racist and liberated society.

Kindred’s mission of developing anti-racist schools that are focused on the collective well-being of the community has attracted the SWS community for several years and why we ultimately joined together in partnership. The promise of a three-year commitment enabled SWS to know it would have ongoing support in its work of developing and sustaining anti-racist policy and practices with long-lasting impact on the community. Through individual’s participation in the initial discussion groups, the work expands adding more and more of the community each year, creating real ownership in the deep exploration of our relationships to help us understand one another and be seen and heard “without difference by economic situation, racial or ethnic identity, ability or another designation.”

– John Burst, Principal, School Within School at Goding

We welcome all of our first year partners and celebrate their work within the Kindred community of 13 current partner schools and 5 alumni schools!

Kindred Team Updates and Intros

We’re thrilled to introduce six of Kindred’s newest team members! While we say “newest,” each of them has been a part of the Kindred team since August or September and done such incredible work. This won’t be the last time you hear these names, but read on to learn what brought everyone to Kindred and a fun fact of theirs!

Thank you!!

Thank you to the over 80 individuals who collectively donated $60,792 to Kindred’s “Power of Community” campaign! We are deeply humbled and honored by your generous support. This was our most ambitious campaign to date and because of you we not only met, but surpassed our original campaign goal. From all of us at Kindred, thank you!! If you haven’t yet watched our “Power of Community” video, watch it on YouTube below.
