Mike started with Kindred as a parent in dialogue where he came to this realization, “As a native Washingtonian educated in the public school system, just watching this explosive culture shift in the nation’s capitol due to gentrification is not acceptable. I need to be engaged.” Mike started as a participant in Kindred, then became a dialogue facilitator at his child’s school. Impressed with the process and vision of Kindred, he now organizes parents and facilitates across multiple schools in DC.
Mike also works on the pastoral staff at a local church where he is passionate about empowering young men and fathers. Before that he worked as a youth & young adult pastor for local youth. A father of two school-aged boys, Mike has been working in and with the local community for more than fifteen years. Mike’s passion for social justice began during his undergraduate education at Florida A & M University in Tallahassee where he studied Business Administration.
